The College admissions process is daunting for both the student and her parents. Thousands of students apply to colleges and often it feels like a lottery ticket to get accepted! During this stressful time, it is crucial that parents and their children work with a trained expert, with first-hand experience, to plan, organize, prepare a schedule and be ahead of everyone else in the race for getting the College of your dreams!
 
Our story begins with our own success in getting admitted to Ivy League universities in the USA and thereafter attending to many requests from our friends for advice on how we did it! So, Horizons’ Consulting was established in 2012 to help and support aspiring young students seeking admission to foreign universities. Our first-hand experience dealing with the daunting admissions processes, deadlines and essays will make your overall experience much easier and, most importantly, effective.


The college admissions process is tailored to each individual and has to be highly personal. In fact, it is a discovery process for each applicant: why did they participate in those school clubs, and why exactly are they trying to apply to each college on their list?
This process is ideally started at least 3-5 years prior to when you actually have to start applying to university. Therefore, we highly recommend that you contact us (or any other Campus Counsellor) right after completion of your GCE O-levels (or equivalent).

Writing a great college admissions essay is not easy. In fact, it can be your greatest stumbling block! Great college essays will be clear, evidence-based, and touch the reader in a meaningful way. These essays find the core of a student's thoughts, feelings, beliefs and values thereby showcasing a student's own unique perspective to the Admissions Committee. Admissions readers are experts at discerning intent and extent of an activity, but clear writing makes it easier for everyone involved.
A significant amount of time that we spend with students is focused on the essay writing process. For instance, these are some of the questions we will address, together, when you tackle your College Admissions essays:
How do you find what you like to do outside of the classroom?
How do you articulate your passion in an essay?
How do you keep your story unique?

We will happily edit and proof-read your writing for a nominal (time-based) fee. We can also help you structure your paper/thesis/article/book or whatever you are writing.
